Ormsary Sporting

Ormsary Estate extends to over 7500 hectacres and offers the very best in quality Red Deer and Hind Stalking. Only 2 hours from Glasgow, the Estate rises from the seashore of Loch Coalisport to the central ridge of Knapdale at 560 metres.

Ormsary has some of the most varied habitats on the West Coast; shoreline, native and productive woodland, low ground farmland and open hill create unrivalled variety in sport offering our guests exciting and challenging stalking amidst dramatic and breathtaking scenery, with terrain to suit all needs and abilities.

Red Deer Stag stalking is available in late September and October with the topography making it possible for two rifles to stalk. Poor weather does not necessarily restrict sport as Sika Stags can be stalked in the low ground woods. Woodland High Seats are located throughout the Estate, for use by additional rifles not stalking on any given days. All stalking is accompanied.

An average of 20 red stags are shot each year with up to 6 available each week. Average weights are close to 88 kilos (196lbs) with the biggest animals weighing in at over 127 Kilos (280 lbs).

Excellent hind stalking - red and sika - is also available from November to February. As with Stags two rifles can stalk simultaneously.

The Estate provides the services of a Game Keeper/Stalker, a Landrover during stalking days and a Scot-Track for deer recovery. It is Estate policy to cull stags in accordance with a Deer and Environmental Management Programme, which ensures the Estate maintains and enhances its woodlands whilst providing a good population of quality deer for sport.
